A German nurse has admitted killing about 30 patients at a hospital where he worked, reports say. The man has been on trial in Oldenburg (northern Germany) since September last year having been accused of three murders and two attempted murders.
However, earlier Thursday, January 8, a court-appointed expert said he had confessed to up to 30 killings during a psychiatric assessment.
He admitted he gave gravely-ill patients an overdose of heart medicine so he could then revive them, the expert told the court. In another 60 cases, the patients survived. Investigators believe the former nurse was motivated by a desire to demonstrate his
ability to resuscitate patients. He had already been sentenced to seven and a half years in jail in 2008 for attempted murder.
