Glo hosts Youth Corps Members to a Night of Fun

Members of the Batch ‘A’, 2015 set of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Scheme posted to Lagos recently, had a night of absolute fun on Friday as Nigeria’s National Telecommunications Carrier, Globacom threw a party for them at the NYSC Orientation Camp located at Iyana-Ipaja, to mark the beginning of the service year.

Glo Ambassador and accomplished standup comedian, Basketmouth anchored the event.  One of the highpoints of the night was Hip-hop super star, Wande Coal’s scintillating performance which featured many of his hits songs.

The corps members turned up in large their hundreds for the party, dressed in their white sportswear and generally enjoyed themselves taking selfies with Globacom’s music and movie ambassadors who were around. The party kicked off at 7 p.m. and lasted till about 10pm, shortly before lights out.

To spice things up, there were a number of competitions during which the Corps members won various items. For instance, there was a dancing competition which generated much excitement among the corps members. Jesse Akinwande won the first prize, a Samsung Ace 4 handset plus 2,000 Glo airtime Chioma Charles was runner up, while Chibueze Udechukwu was second runner-up.

Befii Taekor, one of the  corps members, at the event,  thanked Globacom for the party. “It was really thoughtful of Globacom to have such an event at the Orientation Camp. It created an opportunity for bonding of corps members, especially at the beginning of camp activities,” she enthused.

Globacom’s Business Director, Kunle Akanmu, in his welcome address said that the company was delighted to be part of the corps members’ orientation camp activities and that the party was aimed at celebrating the beginning of their service year which it believed, would be successful and rewarding.

“As the 2015 NYSC Batch ‘A’ service year begins, we urge you to be good ambassadors of your various institutions and brace yourselves up for the challenges ahead. At Globacom, we believe that the youth are the future leaders of this great nation, and we are optimistic that, with the training you have received in your schools, you will make the nation proud in your various places of primary assignment,” Akanmu said.
