Global warming began in Africa -Scientists

A study, by a team from Australia’s Arc Centre of Excellence for Climate System Science and the University of Reading, has revealed where global warming first occurred. Africa!

The scientists created 23 models based on temperature data to study past and future trends of how global warming has evolved over the years such as extreme rainfall.

During their research, they found out that the first changes in average temperature and temperature extremes appeared in the tropics because those regions generally experienced a much narrower range of temperatures.

According to Dr. Ed Hawkins (a climate scientist), ‘Remarkably our research shows that you could already see clear signs of global warming in the tropics by the 1960s but in parts of Australia, South East Asia and Africa it was visible as early as the 1940s.’
