Glo’s LTE coverage remains No. 1 in 36 states, covers over 200 institutions

Telecommunications giant, Globacom’s 4G Long Term Evolution,  LTE, service has spread its tentacles to all the 36 states and over 200 tertiary institutions Nigeria

Globacom in October, 2016, scored another first with the roll out of the country’s first 4G LTE service and soon followed the feat with a launch of the technology throughout the country. This gave the network the edge to spread instant efficient broadband internet to its teeming subscribers at a speed several times faster than the 3G network.

Glo 4G LTE is powered by Glo 1 international submarine cable which has sufficient bandwidth to meet the needs of the West Africa sub-region.

The company disclosed in a statement that its focus on tertiary institutions is to empower students and lecturers with fastest and affordable data services to facilitate research and studies.

Globacom explained that its 700MHz band gives it wider coverage and penetration, adding, “the radio propagation property of the 700MHz band enables Globacom 4G signal to travel the farthest, giving the largest coverage for any site. In effect, any city where Glo LTE site is present, it covers the widest area than any other network.”

According to the company, “It also gives a better indoor penetration than other networks which are not on the band. Indeed, it offers seamless 4G coverage within the cities where it has footprint without the requirement of handing over to 3G or 2G while using data, whether the subscriber is indoor or outdoor. This ensures a better user experience for 4G subscribers on the Glo network.”

One of the major features of the technology is a dedicated spectrum bandwidth of 10MHz which offers users the fastest speed among all 4G operators required to download and view movies and videos as well as listen to songs without any delay. It all comes in crystal clear quality.
Globacom enjoined customers who desire to enjoy its 4G LTE and its affordable and most competitive pricing plan to visit any Gloworld outlet near them to purchase a 4G device and SIM, the statement said.

In addition to this, subscribers can purchase 4G-enabled smart phones and also upgrade their SIMs free of charge at any Gloworld outlets, the company explained.
