Glo’s Professor Johnbull airs Tuesday, highlights negative effects of rumour peddling

This week’s edition of Globacom’s TV drama series, Professor Johnbull, will be examining the negative effects of gossiping and rumour mongering on the individual and society at large, the telecoms company has stated.

The new episode, which is the 4th of Season Two, is entitled Radio without Battery and will go on air at 8.30 p.m. on NTA Network and NTA International on DSTV Channel 251. It is also shown on NTA on StarTimes and rebroadcast at the same time on Friday on the same television stations.

“Radio without Battery promises a comprehensive dissection of the age-long habit of gossip and the inherent dangers and bad blood false alarm is capable of generating even among family members,” Globacom said in a statement.

“As viewers of the Series tune in to their televisions sets on Tuesday to savour their weekly tonic, they will be confronted with the evil effects of the gossip mill, false alarm, tale-bearing and rumour mongering”, the company added.

Apart from highlighting the negative effects of gossiping and rumour peddling, the week’s episode also subjects the ordinarily calm and collected Professor Johnbull to pressure. Views will also be confronted with several posers which are only unraveled later in the show. The questions include: was Flash shot as reported early in the episode? Is Professor Johnbull capable of letting down his guard when confronted by unexpected family pressure? Is Ufoma mischievous or simply illiterate? Does Jumoke really love Flash in spite of her pretences?

Radio without Battery parades all the regular acts in the series including Kanayo O. Kanayo, who plays the lead role of Professor Johnbull,  Bimbo Akintola (Ufoma), Jnr. Pope Odonwodo (Churchill), Stephen Odimgbe (Flash), Funky Mallam (Mai Doya) and Imeh Bishop (Etuk). The episode “will try to awaken our conscience as a people to  examine ourselves to see if, at one time or another, we have caused unnecessary acrimony in the society because of rumour and inaccurate report of incidents,” the statement concluded.
