Gospel singer, Ehiliz on why she veered into TV talk show

Elizabeth Ngozi Ehigiamusoe is a mother of five children. She’s from Awka, Anambra State and married to an Edo businessman and technocrat who’s the MD of Lapo Finance Bank. She is the MD of the sister company, Micro Investments Support Services Limited, a leasing company.

Known in the gospel music circuit as Ehiliz, the bespectacled, ebony and beautiful lady of guts, in this interview with ENCOMIUM Weekly unwrapped reasons she veered into TV talk show which will debut on STV on Saturday, May 31, 2014, after showing the pilot edition.

She was quick to add that she has just released a 10-tracker entitled, Odogwu (The Great One) and much more.

49What is new from the stable of Elizabeth Ngozi Ehigiamusoe aka Ehiliz as far as gospel music is concerned?

God has given me every reason to be grateful to Him. He has never disappointed me. I am getting stronger by the day. I recently released a fresh 10 tracker album entitled, Odogwu (The Great One) in collaboration with Patricia King of the Igwe blockbuster and Pastor Dolly. The album is motivational and all gospel.

How and when did you put the songs together? What was the inspiration because you’re not a commercial gospel musician. You told us you do gospel music exclusively for the passion therein?

The primary assignment of a gospel music maker is to draw people unto God, any other thing is secondary. In any case, if money comes, I won’t reject it. The Bible says seek ye first the Kingdom of God and its righteousness and every other thing shall be added unto you.

Moreover, it’s as deadly as a rattle snake to disobey God’s commandment.

What is your assessment of the gospel music genre in particular and the music industry in general?

It has gone to a higher level. Even lyrics are better. It used to be said that gospel music makers are beggars, it’s no longer so. Gospel music is now played at social events, hospitality outlets and even clubs. That’s an appreciable development. We’ve not gotten there, but we are getting there very soon.

What would you love to change in the industry?

I would love to eradicate repetition, encourage originality and completely delete intellectual property theft. Things must be done professionally. You can’t find the aforementioned vices in gospel music.

Are you getting the desired result?

Yes, to an extent, I am where I want to be for now. My husband wants it as clean as the gospel. That’s why I am strictly gospel.

Outside music, office work and the home front, what else do you do?

By the special grace of the Almighty God, my TV talk show will debut on Silverbird Television on Saturday, May 31, 2014. I am the executive producer.

After the screening of the pilot edition, we will go full blast. We shall be discussing burning national issues. It’s a non-denominational talk show. It’s open to everybody, no regimentation and no holds barred. You come and unbutton your heart on the subject matter.

Is that all?

The talk show is entitled, Vivid View. The concept is a creative and orientation transforming TV programme with a view to restoring decency, morality, peace, love, patriotism and cooperation among the youth in a society that is morally bankrupt. It is also to build an egalitarian society devoid of corruption, kidnapping, terrorism, child abuse, cultism, tribal and religious conflicts, marriage failures (divorce), unemployment and using the youth as political thugs to create havoc and disharmony.

Vivid Views cuts across all religion. The target audience is between the age brackets of 18 and 30, though the programme is beneficial to youths below or above this category.

43As part of the unique concept, the programme invites technocrats from various fields of endeavour to speak, inform and educate the youth on topical or burning issues that concern the youth in general. Also to spice it up, there will be a quiz based on the topic treated which will attract various degrees of prizes to the winners through a raffle draw.

Live musicians will sign out at the end of each session. Sometimes opinions from general public will be sought on burning national issues, excluding the studio audience. It is also an interactive session where questions will be asked and answers provided.

What type of people will be on the programme?

Well known personalities with impeccable character, ingenuity and above all, well experienced, exposed and knowledgeable in national discourse and burning issues, among others.
