Governor Fashola loses auntie

Barely after five months of losing his father, Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) of Lagos State has lost an auntie, who was very dear to him.

She is Mrs. Kehinde Olaleye, his mother’s younger sister. Mrs. Kehinde Olaleye died in the early hours of Wednesday, January 8, 2013, after battle breast cancer. She was 76.

Mrs. Olaleye had been battling the ailment for some years now and was at a particular time taken abroad for treatment. She came back to the country after recovery only for the ailment to relapse.

She is said to be dear to the governor because he once lived with her at her husband’s residence on 26, Olanrewaju Street, Akoka, Lagos.

Baring any change of burial arrangement, she will be buried on Friday, January 24, 2014, at Ikoyi Vaults Gardens, Obalende, Lagos, after a service of songs on Thursday, January 23, 2014, at her residence.

Mrs. Kehinde Olaleye is survived by her elder sister, Mrs. Agunbiade, Governor Fashola’s mother, six children, amongst whom is Mr. Jide Olaleye, who is Senior Special Assistant to Governor Fashola on Auditing.

Her late husband, Chief Simeon Olagotun Olaleye, who died in December 2000, was the 2nd Vice Chairman of Alliance for Democracy (AD) in Lagos State.
