Governor Fayose fires back at Buruji Kasamu

‘You don’t have the locus to comment on PDP Governors’ Forum issue’

chairman of PDP Governors’ Forum.

Speaking with ENCOMIUM Weekly on Monday, January 22, 2016, via his Special Adviser on Public Communication and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the controversial governor expressed dissatisfaction on the senator’s comment. He further described it baseless.

“Senator Buruji Kashamu said Fayose is unfit to lead PDP Governors’ Forum. My position is this: “Even, as we have elected not to join issues with Senator Buruji Kashamu, I think Nigerians should ask him whether he’s a governor.

“What’s the business of a senator who is not even a principal officer in the Senate with who becomes the chairman of PDP Governors’ Forum?

“If he wants to have a say on who becomes PDP Governors’ Forum chairman, he should also try and become governor first like Fayose, and a respected, forthright, committed party man, and a courageous one too.

“As it’s now, he’s not a governor, and as such does not know how PDP Governors’ Forum operates. He therefore lacks the moral rights to comment on who becomes the chairman of the forum.”

Meanwhile, Kashamu had earlier slammed Fayose shortly after his emergence as PDP Governors’ Forum chairman on Friday, January 20, 2017, labeling him immature and incompetent to occupy the exalted seat at this crucial stage the party is.

The statement read, “It’s a misnomer that the governors of an opposition party that is in need of rebranding and repositioning should choose a liability, a loud mouth and an immature politician like Fayose as the chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum.”

This, Governor Fayose has reacted to swiftly, describing the statement as unwarranted.

However, on the tale that Ekiti workers had low key yuletide celebrations due to the governor’s inability to pay their accumulated salaries running to six months, the governor also reacted, “We only owe four months’ salary now. We paid two months in December. There was nothing like bleak yuletide in Ekiti due to salary issue.”
