General Yakubu Gowon (rtd) who was Nigeria’s Head of State during the 30-month civil war (July 6, 1967 – January 15, 1970) spoke shortly after the surrender of Biafra and the elopement of General Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu (leader of the secessionists).
