Group urges Buhari to resign as Petroleum Minister

Northern Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has urged Buhari to hire a competent hand to handle the ministry and appoint a new managing director for NNPC. The group’s demand was contained in a statement issued by Isah Abubakar, the president.

According to the group, Buhari should resign and appoint a substantive minster of petroleum resources for effective service delivery. Finishing its statement, NYCN threatened to stage a massive protest if a difficult economic situation persists.

encomium.ng had a chat with some Nigerians about their views on the impromptu behavior of the NYCN on the president, and here are some of the comments:

Barr. George Adewale

I think the NYCN have gone insane, how could they have carried such an act on the president. They better have a second thought because to be a president is not a day’s job, you will be having endless attacks from every angle. The President of the group should better address the group member to be calm until they proffer a lasting solution to this unending crisis. It is not just the president alone; we all have to join hands to fight this.

Mr. Ken Chibueze

I am in support of the Northern Youths, the President has to succumb before a deliberate act would be done. If the handling of petroleum as the minister and also President of the nation is too much for him, he better withdraw for peace to reign.

Mrs. Geraldine

As humans, the NYCN youths did exactly what is right. The situation in the country is unbearable; I think more hands should be on deck because the suffering is too much. As a matter of fact, I believe no man is an Island and as such, the president should hasten up and get things done right so as to guarantee the future of the next generation.

The era we are in now, is the era of change. So therefore, anything we are experiencing now is “change”, and people should not get themselves deceived. Be wise, Nigerians!
