Halima Babangida’s wedding turned to a carnival


Those who expected a largely controlled event as Halima Babangida is joined in holy matrimony with Alhaji Auwal Lawal Abdullahi were pleasantly surprised as the nuptials was turned into a carnival with thousands of politicians and moguls jostling to identify with the ailing self-styled former President, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (rtd).

From the cultural night withnesed by at least four former first ladies and well connected dames, to the Fatiha graced by legions of politicians and businessmen, it was an extravaganza of uncommon proportion.

Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and his wife  (Dame Patience), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Bukola Saraki, Speaker Yakubu Dogara led a galaxy of politicians, including governors, ministers and party chieftains.

There was former vice president Namadi Sambo, Governors Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna, Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto, Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara, Ahmed Abdulfatah of Kwara, Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano, Minister of Interior Abdulrahman Danbazzau, Defence Minister Mansur Dan-Ali as well as Minister of State for Solid Mineral Development, Abubakar Bwari, former First Ladies, Hajia Turai YarÁdua, Justice Fati Abubakar, Gov. Abubakar Bello of Niger; Sule Lamido,  Sen. Godswill Akpabio and  Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar
