Happenstances from nuptials of Oluwasijibomi and Diekololaoluwa

IT was the turn of Oluwasijibomi Oluwagbemiga, son of Sir. Dr. and Prof. (Mrs.) Adeyemi Olufunmilayo Sanya to quit the bachelor’s club as he chose to marry former Miss Diekololaoluwa Onikepo Okegbenro.

The ceremony to usher the two into matrimony started with the engagement on Thursday, December 17, 2015, and Saturday, December 19, 2015, they were joined as husband and wife at the African Church Cathedral, Salem, Ebute Metta, Lagos.  Guests were later treated to an exciting reception at The Haven Event Centre, Ikeja, Lagos.

THE LOVE STORY OF OLUWASIJIBOMI AND DIEKOLOLAOLUWA

After years of searching, Oluwasijibomi finally found his missing rib, former Miss Diekololaoluwa Onikepo.  They met in church two years ago before Sijibomi proposed, they both fell in love before deciding to take it to another level.

 

THEIR NUPTIAL DRESSES

The bride, Diekololaoluwa, wore a pure white silk floor sweeping gown, accompanied by a silver hair piece and jewelry. Her bride’s maid wore a silky navy blue dress.

The groom, Oluwasijibomi settled for a blue suit, white shirt and bow tie.

 

COLOUR OF THE DAY

Both families dazzled in beige and orange, mostly in lace and in different designs.

 

VENUE OF SOLEMNIZATION

Oluwasijibomi and Diekololaoluwa were joined as husband and wife at The African Church Cathedral, Salem, Freeman Street, Ebute Metta, Lagos.  The marriage was rounded off within two hours, with the marriage covenant, signing of the marriage register, and in no time they were declared husband and wife with a rousing applause.

HOW GUESTS MADE IT TO THE RECEPTION

Guests moved to the reception at The Haven Event Centre, Ajimobi Street, Ikeja, GRA, Lagos.

 

PHOTO SHOOT

The newly-wed, Oluwasijibomi and Diekololaoluwa at the reception enjoyed a rare photo shoot as they danced into the hall.  The two, in their world were all smiles as paparazzi had a field day.

 

CHAIRMAN OF THE OCCASION

GMD/CEO, Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc, Lagos, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi was the chairman of the reception.  He talked about his marriage of 25 years.  The title of his speech was God, Commitment, Communication and Conflict Management (GCCC).  He advised the couple to always stay in love.

 

MASTERS OF CEREMONIES

Comedian Seyi Law compered the event as he thrilled with his hilarious jokes before the arrival of the couple.  Popular presenter and actor, Yemi Shodimu took over from Seyi Law.

 

CUTTING OF THE CAKE

The bride and groom matched gently to the cake stand.  The cake was designed by Mrs. Ope Tejuosho of The Muse Academy.

 

FEEDING OF BRIDE AND GROOM

After all the razzmatazz of dancing and stress of putting things in order, Oluwasijibomi and Diekololaoluwa settled down as they were served a portion of the cake and a glass of wine.  They were asked to feed each other.

 

AFROJUJU CREATOR SPECIAL PERFORMANCE

Sir Shina Peters entertained.  By what we saw of him, he has not lost steam.  Saxophone was played by Lekan Ojo and live band by The Aristo Band.

LARGE TURN OUT FOR THE BOUQUET?

A large turnout was recorded when it was time for the bride to throw the bouquet.  Friends of the couple still in the single’s club stepped out and at the end three ladies got the flower.

The excited couple, Oluwasijibomi and Diekololaoluwa, went round the hall saying thank you for making our day.  For the vote of thanks, the groom gave a loud thank you appreciating guests for coming, especially the people that made the wedding a success.

I feel great.  It is a great experience.  It is one big life time event. Now, we are at this stage and it is moving beautifully.

What attracted you to your wife?

Dieko is a very unique and special person.  Most important, she is down to earth with good character. She is confident and approachable. She is responsive, she is my best friend.

What are your expectations now that you are married?

My expectations are that we grow together in love under God’s care and continue to dwell upon that, raise a lovely family, make progress and impact our society positively.

I am very happy, very excited, very relieved.  I have been looking forward to this day for a very long time, I am happy it finally came.

How did you meet your husband?

We met in church. I have known him for two years before he proposed marriage to me.

What are your expectations in this marriage?

I don’t have any expectation.  I am very open minded.  I hope for the best. I know I have a good man.

How many children do you want to have?

Seven (laughs).

I am excited, very excited.  I am so happy that my son is getting married.

How will you describe your son?

He is a very gentle and easy going person and with that, I am sincerely hoping he will have a happy married life.

What advice will you give the new couple?

The couple should pray for their marriage to be successful.  They should pray individually, pray together and pray for each other.

It is a very great thing to happen in a man’s life. I am very happy and excited to my marrow.

The pastor preached love, how will you describe your daughter being ready for the task?

I am sure she is ready.  She has been trained well and she is of age.

What advice do you have for the couple?

They should love each other.  They should be upright and loyal to each other.

Is this the first time you are doing this?

Yes, it is.

When are we expecting another one?

I have many children, in 12 months, there will be two.
