He was suicidal, driver recently employed: 7 new facts on Dr. Allwell Orji

Dr. Allwell Orji, the 35 year old victim of suicide in Lagos lagoon on Sunday, March 19, 2017, was suicidal…but hid his pains from colleagues and neighbours who painted a colourful portrait of a hard working, extroverted and friendly gentleman.

And here are new details about the victim of the Third Mainland Bridge tragedy:
1. He had attempted suicide a number of times. And only four years ago he was prevented from jumping from the balcony of their two-storey house on Odunukan Street, Ebute Ejigbo, near University of Lagos.
2. His health status is unclear, but his family closely monitored him. And that’s why a driver was employed to ferry him around.
Henry Ita, his new driver, who is still with the Police, was employed about three months ago. So, he’s said to be unfamiliar with his boss’ idiosyncrasies.
3. His father died about four years ago. And his mum is a director in one of the banks and worships at Deeper Life Bible Church.
He lived with her.
4. Dr. Allwell Orji is the first child, and has a postgraduate degree in Family Health.
5. His colleagues at Mount Sinai Hospital on 32, Olanibe Street, Papa Ajao, Mushin, described him as conscientious, friendly and adored.
6. His last day at work was on Friday, March 17, and he showed no signs of mental or psychological challenges. His mother even usually checked on him at the hospital.
7. His corpse is yet to be located, two clear days after he told his driver to stop the Nissan Xtrail  (LND 476 EE) as he alighted from the Adeniji Adele area of Third Mainland Bridge. He claimed he wanted to urinate.  But instead jumped off the bridge around 4:45 pm.
