Here are the first set of ministers in Theresa May’s cabinet

The new British Prime Minister Theresa May began her first day in office yesterday (Wednesday, July 13) with the appointment of six ministers – Philip Hammond (chancellor), Boris Johnson (foreign secretary), Amber Rudd (home secretary), David Davis (secretary of state for exiting the European Union), Liam Fox (department for international trade) and Michael Fallon (defense secretary).

Here are some facts about the new ministers :

1. Philip Hammond – was born on December 4, 1955 and represents Runnymede and Weybridge (since 1997) in the House of Commons. The new Chancellor of the Exchequer was born in Epping, Essex and was the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs (July 15, 2014 – July 13, 2016). The very married (to Susan Williams-Walker) politician has three children.

2. Boris Johnson – was born on June 19, 1964 and represents Uxbridge and South Ruislip (since 2015) in the House of Commons. The Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs was born in New York City and was the Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016. He has five children from his two marriages (to Allegra Mostyn-Owen, 1987 – 1993, and Marina Wheeler, 1993 – present).

3. Amber Rudd – was born on August 1, 1963 and represents Hastings and Rye in East Sussex (since 2010). The Home Secretary was born in London and was Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change (May 11, 2015 – July 13, 2016). She was married to A.A. Gill (from 1990 -1995) and has two children.

4. David Davis – was born on December 23, 1948 and represents Haltemprice and Howden in the Parliament (he has been an MP since 1987 but left at a point to return later). The Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union was born in York to a single mother and was shadow Home Secretary (November 11, 2003 – June 12, 2008). He is married to Doreen Davis, and has three children.

5. Liam Fox – was born on September 22, 1961 and represents North Somerset (since 1983, though at another constituency). The Secretary of State for International Trade was raised in East Kilbride and was Secretary of State for Defense (May 12, 2010 – October 14, 2011). He’s married to Jesme Baird.

6. Michael Fallon – was born on May 14, 1952 and represents Sevenoaks in Parliament (since 1997). The Secretary of State for Defense has occupied the position since July 15, 2014. He is married to Wendy Paine and they have two children.
