Here’s what went down at premiere of Citation

PICTURE THIS… a room full of people with different emotional reactions to different scenes from the movie Citation…
That’s exactly what went down during the screening, and words can’t express how priceless these reactions were.
After our goose bumpy teaser and Netflix trailer for #Citationthemovie, we finally had the exclusive premiere of Citation on October 31, 2020 at Terra Kulture.
The event, a mix of music, cocktails and movie screening, had in attendance the cast of Citation – Dr. (Mrs) Ibukun Awosika, Temi Otedola, Ini Edo, Gabriel Afolayan, Wole Olowomojuore, Seun Kuti, Toyin Ogundeji – alongside the partners behind the movie (Ford Foundation, Access “W’ Initiative, Natnudos, Canon, Flyboku, GAC Motors, Arik Air, Ajike Foundation).
Other fabulous guests graced the premiere – from Sola Sobowale; the Director General of NFVCB, Alhaji Adedayo Thomas; the President and Executive Producer of All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), Mike Dada; the Nigerian music video director, filmmaker and cinematographer, Clarence Peters; Chioma Chukwuka Akpotha; Chief and Mrs Taiwo; the former commissioner for Information and strategy, and later arts and culture in Lagos State, Steve Ayorinde; former DG of NFVCB, Emeka Mba; the Group Head/Programme Coordinator for The Access “W” Initiative Ayona Aguele-Trimnell; the MD of Terra Kulture, Mrs Bolanle Austen Peters; the MD of Ecobank, Patrick Akinwuntan; Mrs Eniola Fadayomi and a host of others.
Starting off with the red-carpet moment and great conversations, the screening began with the opening speech from our CEO, Kunle Afolayan, who welcomed everyone and appreciated the effort of the cast, crew and the partners involved in Citation. He also emphasized on the intentions of the movie which is to encourage people to “sorosoke” (speak up) against sexual based crimes.
With the show in full swing, the invitees got the chance to be the first set of people to watch Citation and hear the emotions-evoking soon to be released soundtrack.
The screening ended with a loud ovation as Kunle Afolayan came on stage for the curtain call. He began by inviting the chairman of Access Bank, Dr. Ajoritsedere Awosika, on stage to share her reasons for partnering with Golden Effects Services & KAP Motion Pictures for the production of Citation, after which he invited the cast and crew.
And then something no one saw coming:
Kunle Afolayan surprised the guests by directing their view to the big screen and video calling Jimmy Jean-Louis (lead actor in citation) and Adjetey Anang (co-starred in the movie) who were unable to attend the event.

The screening eventually came to an end and the post interviews began! While some guests were posing and strutting for the camera and selfies, different media houses like Accelerate Tv, Pulse NG, Channels News, Naija Max, HipTV, including our very self, engaged in an insightful one-on-one interaction with the guests.
With a few more days to the release of Citation on Netflix, we cannot wait for you to see the movie. So, let the countdown to the 6th of November begin!
