A Sierra-Leonian doctor who, despite risks to his own health, has been treating Ebola-infected patients, has sadly contracted the fatal disease.
Sheikh Umar Khan was recently hailed as a ‘national hero’ for his role in fighting the deadly virus which has ravaged some West African countries, claiming the lives of a reported 800 people.
Khan, having personally treated scores of Ebola patients, has now taken ill and has been taken to a medical facility run by medical charity Medicins Sans Frontieres after catching the virus.
