Heroic young pilot lands plane after passenger tried to cut engine

A young pilot has been hailed as a hero as he successfully landed a twin-engine aircraft in a field after fighting off a passenger who had tried to cut the plane’s engine and grab the controls.

The 23-year-old pilot had to wrestle an 82-year-old passenger, who flicked a switch in the cockpit to shut down the engine, before seizing the control column.

The mid-air drama happened in the skies over New South Wales, Australia, during a chartered flight in the twin-engine aircraft.
