Hon. Ajao debunks diabetes tale

HON. Jimoh Alao, the Special Adviser to Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) on Housing, has debunked the rumour that he has been incapacitated by debilitating diabetes.

The grassroots politician from Alimosho axis of the state in an exclusive interview with ENCOMIUM Weekly said like every human being, he was a bit under the weather but it is not diabetes.

His words, “I am a human being and like every other human being, I am not stone.  There is no human being that does not fall sick one time or the other.  The nature of our job as a politician and special adviser could be very tedious.  I am not growing young.  By January (2015), I will be 58. So, you don’t expect all these work of Special Adviser on Housing who is inspecting one project or the other not to take its toll on my health.”

He said all he needed was rest and that he was not down with diabetes.

“When you are a politician, who is well known, people tend to carry rumours about you.”

He also denied being bedridden for months.  According to him, “I went to Umrrah (less haji) just few months ago and I played host to many people during Ileya festival in October.”

He also denied that he did not seek proper medical treatment for his ailment that he was being taken around to spiritual homes.

“Why won’t I seek proper medical treatment when I am not going to pay for it,” he asked.  “The government will take care of my medical bills because I am a public servant.  So, why won’t I seek proper medical care?” he asked again.

He said he is well and kicking and what he needs is a lot of rest.

When we asked him when he would be returning to office.  He said he does not know yet because he has not had enough rest.

Hon. Jimoh Alao, before his appointment as Special Adviser to Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) in 2007 and 2011, was the chairman of Igando-Ikotun Local Development Council Area (LCDA) from 2004 to 2007.  He was also the Executive Secretary of the same LCDA between 2003 and 2004.
