Hon. Fafunmi drops House of Reps ambition

The Lagos law maker representing Ifako Ijaye Constituency 1, Hon Saka Dayo Fafunmi, who recently made his intention to replace late Elijah Adewale (JAH) at the Federal House of Representatives known, has jettisoned the ambition, encomium.ng can reveal authoritatively.
One of the aides of the politician who disclosed this to us under the condition of anonymity said Fafunwa bowed out of the race on account of the order from above and pressure from some party leaders even outside the state.

“Hon Saka Fafunmi has dropped his ambition to replace late Dr Jah. I learnt he has been invited by Governor Ambode on the issue and the governor told him to withdraw from the race on the ground that the party can’t run two bye-elections in the same constituency now. Also, I learnt some party leaders within and outside the state who have also presented their candidates for the seat have also mounted pressure on him to step down. And Hon Fafunmi who believes his future concerning his political career is still very bright has no choice than to withdraw from the race so far the party has spoken.

“Although, he’s not that comfortable with the decision because he has spent a lot. But as a party loyalist, he has agreed to drum his support for whoever emerges as the party’s flag bearer in the race. But I am sure he will vie for the ticket come 2019.”
