HON. FUNMI TEJUOSO LOSES FATHER

Hon. Adefunmilayo Tejuoso, a top ranking female member of Lagos House of Assembly is now an orphan. The beautiful mother of four children lost her father, her only parent for many years to the cold hands of death on Wednesday, February 12, 2014.

Her father, Dr. Ademola Smith, a prominent orthodox media practitioner in his lifetime gave up the ghost at his 14, Ainu Eleko, Onigbogbo, Maryland, Lagos residence that Wednesday morning due to old age related illness.

He was 84. He would have been 85 on April 4, 2014. He will be buried on Friday, February 28, 2014 at The Vault and Gardens, Ikoyi, Lagos. This will be after a funeral service at Archbishop Vinning Memorial Church, Oba Akinjobi Street, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos.

Before the burial, a wake-keep would be held on Thursday, February 27, 2014, at Skypower Pavilion on Oba Akinjobi Street, Ikeja, Lagos.

Late Dr. Ademola Smith is survived by his wife (Hon. Tejuoso’s step-mother) and six children.

Amongst his children are Ailero, is first daughter, who is a lawyer based in the United States of America, Mrs. Adeleke, Mr. Wallace Smith, a businessman based in England, Dr. Adedotun Smith, a medical doctor like his late father. He plies his trade in the United States of America.

There is also Mrs. Funlola Dennis-Ajayi, a lawyer and Chief Magistrate with Ikeja Judicial Division of Lagos State. Mrs. Funlola Dennis-Ajayi is closely followed by Hon. (Mrs.) Adefunmilayo Tejuoso, swho is the last child of her late mother who had five children for her father.

She is a lawyer and a politician. She has been a member of Lagos House of Assembly since 2013. In the 5th session (2007-2011) of the Lagos House of Assembly, she became the Deputy Speaker.

Presently, she is the chairman of the House Committee on Finance, a position that made her one of the top ranking members of the legislative body.

The beautiful mother of four children (a girl and three boys) who is married to the second son of Oba Adedapo Tejuoso, Kayode Tejuoso, is presently pursuing her Ph.D in Law, at University of Lagos. In fact, the thesis for her Ph.D is on Domestic Violence Law which was why she sponsored the Bill on the same subject on the floor of the assembly and which has since become a law in Lagos State.

She will certainly miss her late dada lot, because since she was 19 when she lost her mother. She has been very close to her father. More so, other siblings relocated abroad, she and her immediate elder sister, Mrs. Funlola Dennis-Ajayi have been looking after him.

This explains why she and her sister threw a 80th birthday party for their father on Saturday, April 4, 2009, at All Seasons Plaza, Lateef Jakande Road, Agidingbi, Lagos. The party had in attendance who is who in the socio-political scene.

She was already preparing to throw another party for him on April 4, 2014, when he would have turned 85 when death suddenly snatched him away. Hon. Funmilayo Tejuoso also has a step-brother. He is Mr. Gbadebo Smith.
