Encomium
A ray of hope is now beaming on Ogba, Ikeja (Lagos) traders whose shops have been sealed for exactly two months for non-compliance with the requirements of Lagos state environmental law as the state government is now set to gladden their hearts in a matter of days following their fulfillment of all the expected conditions.
Speaking with encomium.ng today, Wednesday, December 13, 2017, one of the traders, Mr Jude Smith said, “I am glad to tell you that our shops will soon be reopened.And it will happen in a matter of days. I can’t say exactly when but all I am sure of is that we will soon resume work. This place has been inspected and certified by the Ministry Of the Environment. The only thing left for us to do is to clean the gutter. And that’s what we’re doing now. So, there’s certainty that this place will be reopened before Christmas.”
On what they have lost so far, Smith reacted, “We can’t quantify that. I believe this place has been locked for two months exactly. Since, most of us have not been doing anything. Even, we have been finding it difficult to feed our families. But now, we thank God that government has said the shops will soon be reopened, and business will resume immediately.
