How a woman emerged Conference 57 chairperson

For the first time in the history of local government in Lagos state, a woman, Mrs. Rasheedat Omolola Ajala – Essien, the Chairman of Lagos Mainland Local Government Council, has emerged the Chairperson of Chairmen of Local government councils, aka Conference 57 in Lagos state.
She emerged after their (Chairmen)  meeting with Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on Wednesday, July 26, 2017.
encomium.ng gathered that at the meeting, there was no consensus among the 18 Chairmen who are serving their second term as to who should be chairman among them.
The governor who was in a hurry to catch a flight left the meeting and told chairmen that they will be hearing from his officials.
Right after the governor left, an official of the state government came out to announce to them the new officials of their forum.
It was right there that Mrs. Rasheedat Omolola Ajala – Essien emerged as the Chairperson, Olaitan Mukandasi Ogidan of Lekki LCDA, as deputy chairman, Olusola Rasaq Ajala of Odi – Olowo/Ojuwoye as Vice Chairman to represent Lagos West Senatorial district, Babatunde Afolabi Sofola of Kosofe LG as vice chairman Lagos East senatorial district and Olawale Kamal Salau – Bashua of Lagos Island East LCDA as vice chairman Lagos Central senatorial district.
Other officials of the forum are: Idris Bolaji Muse -Ariyoh of Oshodi/Isolo LG as the secretary, David Kolade Alabi of Bariga LCDA, as treasurer, Abiodun Shamusideen Olaleye of Isolo LCDA as the legal adviser and Mrs Adetutu Omobolanle Medinat Akinyemi – Obe of Coker – Aguda LCDA as the welfare officer.
The first chairman of the forum is Senator Munirudeen Adekunle Muse who vacated the position in 2007 when he became a senator. He was followed by Hon James Abiodun Faleke who handed over to Akeem Suleiman, aka Oris in 2011, when he won a seat to the House of Representative.
