How D’Banj moved from Glo for MTN: Details of his endorsement palaver

After 7 years, of being an ambassador for Nigeria’s leading telecommunications brand- Glo, the Kokmaster has moved  to MTN Nigeria.

Though Bangalee is yet to officially confirm or deny the movement, a source close to D’banj’s company, D’Kings Men (DKM) said : “It’s more of a partnership between MTN and DKM to launch a platform of visible hope for the creative industry where creative content will be found, housed, financed, nurtured, published, marketed, distributed and sold with track-able monitoring by content owners without leaving their comfort zones. With the support of the Bank of industry who is providing funding for DKM, this initiative and the launching of a new publishing company’ ”

D’banj’s announced the new service ‘The Cream Platform’ on his twitter timeline. ‘The Cream Platform’ is a project by Bank Of Industry (BOI) in partnership with D’banj’s DKM and MTN Nigeria.

D’banj joined Globacom in 2009 when he signed an endorsement deal worth N70 Million as reported, although he was dropped for Psquare, signed for a 4-year contract worth over N240 Million. Luckily, 2013 was a good year for the ‘Top of The World’ crooner as he was re-signed to the Nigeria after meeting with the company’s owner, Dr. Mike Adenuga. Now that his endorsement deal with GLO is terminated, the telecommunications is unlikely to extend D’banj’s contract.

It is expected that 39-year-old D’banj’s new deal with MTN will help improve the distribution of entertainment products and also monetize and monitor music content and catalogues, while experimenting with markets within the African Union.
