HON. JAH ADEWALE was found dead on a chair in his sitting room

Contrary to rumour that Hon. Dr Elijah Olu Adewale, a.k.a Jah, the late member of House of Representatives representing Ifako-Ijaiye Federal Constituency slumped and died, ENCOMIUM Weekly can authoritatively reveal that he did not slump at all.

According to one of his colleagues in the Lower Chamber, who was there when the door of his apartment was forced opened, he was found sitting on the settee in his sitting room with a bottle of Eva water beside him.

According to the honourable member of the House of Representatives, who is also representing a constituency in Lagos State, the late Hon. Elijah Adewale was with them at the plenary session of the Lower House on Tuesday, July 19, 2016  and Wednesday, July 20, 2016.

He told ENCOMIUM Weekly that after the plenary session of Wednesday, July 20, 2016, he was also with them at the Lagos APC member caucus meeting held at Hon. Ayeola – the caucus leader’s residence in Abuja.

He said in all these three meetings, Hon. Adewale was his usual ebullient and humorous self during and after the meeting which ended around 7pm on that Wednesday, July 20, 2016. He said it was when the (caucus members) did not see him at the plenary session on Thursday, July 21, 2016, and his calls were not picked that they called his driver, who told them that he too was waiting for him to come down.

He said this was what raised the alarm bell in all of them (caucus members) and they decided to come to his rented apartment at Gwarinpa area of Abuja. After several knocks at his door and there was no response, they decided to force the door open.

Alas! There they met him in his pyjamas sitting on one of the settees in his sitting room with foam coming from his mouth and with a bottle of Eva water beside. He was oblivious of their presence. The driver later told them that after he left the caucus meeting, he drove him to a car dealer whom he (Hon. Adewale) had paid for a car but failed to deliver as promised.

He was said to have tongue-lashed the car dealer before returning home that Wednesday, July 20, 2016 night. After dropping him at home, the driver left him and the car for his own residence. Hon. Adewale, according to his colleagues lived alone in his apartment.

This made it difficult for them to determine when he actually kicked the bucket. Some are of the opinion it happened that Wednesday, July 20, 2016 evening while others said it happened on Thursday, July 21, 2016 morning. Certainly, the autopsy will determine not only the cause of death but also when it happened.
