Breakfast of bread, eggs and beverage averages N800 to N1,500 for a family of four, depending on the extras and where you live.
Encomium.ng spoke to a few women on how much the regular breakfast cost…
Olaoye Simiat
As for me, I would say you can make bread and egg with at least N800. I and my husband and my two children will make do with sliced bread of N250. I would buy six eggs for N200. I would buy pepper and onions with seasonings N100. I would buy groundnut oil for N100 and I would buy kerosene with N150. I usually have beverages at home, but if I have to add the cost of tea to it, I would add #350.
Remilekun Osho
I would say N1,000 will do. I will buy bread of N300, I always calculate the eggs per head, I and my husband will take 2 eggs each, then my two children will share 3eggs. The eggs will cost N280. I would buy pepper with onions N50. I don’t like frying eggs without fish, so I would buy sardines N200. I have my gas cooker and I have seasonings and oil at home. I always have Bournvita too. I would just buy milk of N150.
Aigbe Mary
I think N1000 should do. My children are still small, so bread of N250 should be okay for the four of us. I would buy 6 eggs, I would buy pepper and seasonings N150. I would buy ugwu leaves N50, because I like vegetables in my eggs. I would buy groundnut oil N50. I would buy butter, tea and milk with remaining N500.
