‘How much we spend in a day’ – Lagosians tabulate expenses

It is amazing that a number of people spend a lot daily in the course of going about their activities. ENCOMIUM Weekly sampled opinions of Nigerians about this

FEMI OLABUNMI

As a man, I must have at least N20,000 in my pocket daily. I have to fuel my car and my wife’s car. Drop money at home daily.  I may not finish everything, but I must have that amount daily.

ZAINAB AHMED

I spend at least N1,500 daily.  It all depends though, if I don’t have to go to a long distance. If I have to, I will spend much more than that.

KEMI ARADEYO

I need N4000 per day to survive.  I would eat out, transport myself and prepare something to eat at night. I work on the Island, you can imagine how much I must have daily.  If I have N2,500, I am always panicking so as not to be stranded.

FELICIA AMAH

It depends on my field. If I do everything in my house, I don’t need to go out, I will not need much daily. But if I stay far from where I work, I have to think of transport, eating out, I would need more. At least, I must have a minimum of N3,000 on me daily.

FUNKE SOLOMON

It should not be less than N2,000 and that also depends. If I am not going out of my office, I just need to get to work, eat and go back home. But if it is more than that, I must have more than N2,000 on me.

ANTONIA JOSEPH

On an average, I need N1,000, I would transport myself, eat out, though not all the time. It is quite difficult to determine. Situation and occasion would determine.

TINUOLA ABEBI

I must have at least N1,500 per day. I don’t go too far from home.  I work around Ikeja axis so I don’t spend much money.  I also ensure I take food to work daily to reduce my expenses.

SEGUN AJALA

As a family man, I must have not less than N5,000. I would drop money for house upkeep daily, at least I must leave N2,000 for my wife daily. My place of work is quite far, I work on the Island. I must have N2,500 daily, transport fare is expensive. It is usually worse at night. Once I don’t have that amount, I have to borrow before going out.

BOSE AKINOLU

N3,000 if I don’t have to go anywhere from work. I would eat out and transport myself to and fro daily.  I don’t think anybody should have less than that before stepping out of the house.

SEGUN OLOWO

I usually have N5,000 before leaving the house.  I must have up to that daily.  Once I don’t have N25,000 per week, I would be worried.  55 percent of the money I take out daily goes for fuel.  I eat a bit out and I do take food from home sometimes.

TOYIN AFILAKA

N3,500 must leave the house with me on a daily basis.  The nature of my job entails going out daily.  Sometimes, I go with a colleague so as to reduce the expenses of the day.

AKANNI SAMUEL

N5,000.  I would fuel my car, I am a marketing executive, I move around a lot, so most of the money would go for fuel.

OLUWATOYIN

A day on a low budget I spend N500 per day, but when things are on good shape I spend up to N2000 or N3000 with my transport to work and other expenses.

MR WASIU ROTIMI

I spend N10000 per day with my family both our feeding, transport and any other items.

AFOLABI AMINAT

It depends. To calculate my transport to shop and eating with some small expenses, if I have N1,000 it will be okay for me.

MRS. MAKANJUOLA TOSIN

I can’t really say precisely but all I know is that if I have N2,000 per day, it will be enough for me.

AKANNI RASHEED

I am a married man. For me, if I would calculate it feeding – transport and some other miscellaneous – roughly with N5,000 per day it will be okay

OLADELE LATEEF

How much I spend daily depends on what I have in my pocket that day. But I spend at least N1,500 daily.

ABRAHAM STEPHEN

I spend nothing less than N1,000 on feeding daily because I’m single and I don’t cook. For other expenses, that depends on what I’m doing that day. Sometimes I spend a total sum of N2,500, sometimes more.

ISAAC OLATUNBOSUN

I spend between N1,500 and N3,000 daily.  Sometimes, I spend more, but I don’t usually spend less than that.

BALOGUN OLAIDE

I spend about N5,000 daily. I work on the Island, I transport myself every day with nothing less than N1000 plus my feeding and every other thing.

HABEEB AYUBA

I spend between N1,200 and N2,000 daily.
