How Ooni met Wuraola: Inside the marriage dossier of Ooni (4)

There was neither courtship nor whirlwind romance! Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, and Wuraola Zaynab Otiti Obanor did not know themselves well before they tied the knots on Saturday, March 12, 2016.

Whatever version you heard about how they met, none was more than two months before their very public wedding.
Here are some versions of how Ooni met his Benin princess wife:
1. They met in Lagos one month before the wedding.
2. They were introduced by Senator Daisy Danjuma (who is Yeye Oba, mother of the king – a ceremonial title).
3. She sought the king out and drove to Ile Ife two months before the wedding.
4. The oracles chose her, and she presented herself at the palace.
Whatever is the version you believe, protestations greeted the announcement of the union as many painted colourful pictures why both were unsuited for one another.
While the king was labelled a matured single who left his first wife (Bukola Bombata) after many years of unhappiness, some said he was an absentee father to his only daughter from Adeola, his childhood sweetheart.
The attempt to reclaim her spot during the coronation by Bukola Bombata failed – and the king became a matured bachelor under constant prodding to seek a partner.
On her part, Olori Wuraola was rumoured to be married to a Lebanese (Elie Khouri) as at December 2015.
The property developer was linked to a few politicians. But she appeared unencumbered.
At the time of the marriage of the Benin princess who’s namesake with the King’s mother (late Princess Margaret Wuraola Ogunwusi), many scandals were thrown about with loud protestations from different quarters about how the couple are unsuited for one another.
But the very public wedding went ahead, and all the noise stopped…until a few weeks ago when troubles became apparent in the union.
By Monday, August 14, the internet was abuzz with marital crisis which the palace denied on Tuesday, August 15.
But in spite of the denials, insiders maintained that only a miracle can save the 16-month union…
