How P-Square conquered America
– Move into Omole mansion, splash N65m on exotic rides
The multiple award winning due of Paul and Peter Okoye, popularly known as P-Square, recently shown in the United States of America where they went for a musical tour.
The one and a half months tour, which ended in New York City on July 24, 2010, has been described as massive and one of the most successful outings ever recorded by the Dunukofia, Anambra State born twins.
During the tour, the E No Easy crooners performed in seven major cities: Houston, Los Angeles, Minnesota, Oakland, Maryland, Canada (Toronto) and New York, where they ignited their numerous fans with tracks from their latest album ‘Danger’. The hip-hop stars spent about two and half hours on stage at each of the shows.
ENCOMIUM Weekly gathered that the Maryland show was almost cancelled due to the fact that the crowd that trooped out to watch them was more than the capacity of the venue.
During one of their performance, the Silverbird Television sexiest celebrity of the year, Peter of P-Square, was also almost raped by some overzealous female fans, but was quickly rescued by security agents after the fans almost stripped him.
According to him, he and his twin brother, Paul, are yet to find the right words to describe the success of the tour. It was further learnt that the America star singer, Drake, approached them for a collabo.
“I don’t actually know how to explain how successful the tour was because aside the fact that all the shows were sold out, the passion shown by the fans, particularly the white ones, was incredible. I never knew the Americans love us that mush. Surprisingly, they knew the lyrics of our songs and were singing along, “Peter disclosed.
P-Square and their 12-man band, which include dancers and two bodyguards, were treated like kings while the tour lasted. Aside being lodged in exotic hotels, the tour organisers provided a Limousine ride and tight security for the Nigerian stars all through their stay.
We gathered that due to popular demand, P-Square is expected to continue the tour next year. Their performance train will then move to other American cities like Ohio, Chicago and Atlanta, among others, where their fans are eagerly waiting to see them perform.
“They actually wanted us to visit all the cities before coming back to Nigeria, but we insisted that it should be postponed to next year because there are things we need to attend to back home,” added Peter.
Meanwhile, the gifted dancers singers have finally moved into their N100 million mansion on Lola Holloway Street, Omole Estate Phase 1, Ikeja, Lagos. The hip-hop stars have also acquired four brand new wonders-on-wheels, which have been delivered to their garage by Coscharis.
The new automobiles, with customised number plates, “MR P”, “RUDE BOY” and “NGS”, are two Range Rover Sports, one X6 BMW and a Jaguar, all 2010 models. They cost P-Square a whopping of N65 million.
