How Professor Olu Akeusola died 3 hours after Abuja trip

Since the sudden death of Professor Olu Akeusola, 55, the Provost of Michael Otedola College of Primary Education (MACOPED), on Friday, April 21, 2017, Lagos state in general and Epe division in particular, has been thrown into mourning mood for losing one of their best brains.

Encomium.ng can authoritatively tell you that the first professor of comparative grammar in English, French and Yoruba died in his sleep few hours after returning from a trip to Abuja where he had gone to submit necessary documents to Nigerian University Commission( NUC) to facilitate the upgrading of the college to a degree awarding institution.

He left for the trip on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, and came back on Friday, April 21, 2017, around 2:30pm.

On his return to Epe from Lagos airport, he went to his residence, took a shower and told his aides that he needed some rest. He told them to wake him up at 5pm.

At exactly 5pm, one of the aides went to wake him up, and he told him to come back at 6pm. When the aide went back at 6pm to wake him up as instructed he did not respond to his call. The aide moved closer and discovered his breathing rhythm has slowed down completely. His eyes too seemed to have lost its pupils. He raised an alarm and he was quickly rushed to the hospital where he was instantly declared BID ( Brought in Dead ).

He was buried according to Muslims rites at 1:30pm on Saturday, April 22, 2017 .

The professor is survived by three wives and many children. Just last month, Saturday, March 18, 2017 , to be precise, he gave out the hands of one of his daughters in marriage.

He was serving his second term as provost of the college. His first term started in 2011 and was renewed in 2015, by Governor Ambode.
