How to cope in difficult times according to the Bible (Part 2)

From the lower to upper class, poor to rich, Nigerians are groaning as the economy bites harder. With more people out of jobs than ever before, and more business troubled and collapsing, millions have lost hope, legions are desolate and in despair. Opportunistic crimes are taking on new dimensions and compatriots are inventing survival means as hundreds of thousands feel the pangs of hunger and hopelessness.

Everywhere we turn, tales of woes and unheard of scenarios are repeated.

So, where do we turn?

Millions are finding solace in religion, and checking their Bible and Koran, and more.

As the difficulties take on new form, we present some soothing Bible passages which teach us how to cope as President Muhammadu Buhari struggles to executes solutions to our many problems…

 

James 1:2-4

2 – Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds,

3 – because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.

4 – Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

 

James 1:12

12 – Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

 

Romans 12:12

12 – Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.

 

John 16:33

33 -I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

 

Romans 8:17-18

17 – Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

18 – I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.

 

Romans 8: 35-37

35 – Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

36 – As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

37 – Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

 

1Samuel 26:24

24 -Behold, as your life was precious this day in my sight, so may my life be precious in the sight of the LORD, and may he deliver me out of all tribulation.”

 

Psalm 27:1

1 – The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?

 

Isaiah 41:13

13 – For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.

 

1 Peter 5:6-7

6 – Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

7 – Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
