Will you say there is a drop in the staging of events due to the economic situation of the country?

Yes, of course. The economy has affected a lot of things not just events. The high dollar exchange rate is another factor that has affected everything. People do events on small scale now.

Can you compare patronage in the last six months to last year?

There is a lot of difference. Before I used to have jobs every weekend but now, there are weekends I don’t get jobs. That is the state of the economy for you.

What advise do you have for clients who wish to stage their party despite the state of the economy?

Whether the economy is bad or good, people will still get married. They can cut down their budget. Nigerians are good at managing in any situation. We adapt to situations easily. Clients can apply that in staging their events.

People will still stage events whether there is economic crunch or not. So, I don’t think so.

Can you compare patronage in the last six months to last year?

I don’t think there is any decrease. It only depends on how far clients wants to go. They might cut down on their budget. If they have the money, they can go all out. And if they don’t have money, they will do it according to their ability.

What advise do you have for clients who wish to stage their party despite the state of the economy?

I will advice them to do their budgeting very well before you go n with your party.

They should spend money where it is important. For some people, the décor is most important to them. For others, it is the food. Just prioritize your event. Know what is important and do that first.

Yes, there is a drop in staging of events. Before, the first quarter is usually a busy time but things are not as they used to be again.

Can you compare patronage in the last six months to last year?

Everybody is saying there is the dollar syndrome. I used to plan children’s party for a particular couple but this year, the husband said no, there is dollar syndrome. They would rather go for a photo shoot. Patronage is on the quiet side now. It is not as vibrant as it used to be. Even companies are complaining. I have a job I am handling for a company and they are already complaining that there is no money.

What advise do you have for clients who wish to stage their party despite the state of the economy?

Cut down on your number of guests. I have a lot of friends that have changed their profiles to married on facebook. Some didn’t bother to inform their friends because they are cutting cost.

Invite the people you can cater for and take advantage of promos and packages that bring discounts.

Stage two events in a day. Merge your events into one day in other to cut cost.

Will you say there is a drop in the staging of events due to the economic situation of the country?

You cannot really tell at the beginning of the year because this is not usually our peak period. I would say people are trying to cut cost but about patronage, you really can’t tell.

Can you compare patronage in the last six months to last year?

I have gotten more prospects from the beginning of the year than I have ever gotten.

What advise do you have for clients who wish to stage their party despite the state of the economy?

Like I normally tell my clients, if you have decided to have your event despite everything, we will still be creative about it. Just don’t be too loud about it. Don’t invite so many people. People will forgive you quickly for not inviting them than inviting them and not giving them food and starving them of fun too.
