Encomium
Newly unearthed fossils have revealed that giant penguins up to the size of a human used to live on a small island near Antarctica some 37 millions years ago.
The aquatic beast – which would have been able to dive deeper and hold its breath for a remarkable 40 minutes, giving it more time to hunt – measures 6 ft 6 ins high and around 115 kilos in weight.
