‘I can’t wait to see my baby’ – Expectant father, Kingsley Okonkwo of KC

Hip-hop crooner, Kingsley Okonkwo of KC Presh, is the happiest man on earth right now.  He told ENCOMIUM Weekly in an exclusive chat about his preparations to be a father, their two-month tour of Europe and other good things happening to his family.

Excerpts…

How is life after marriage?

It’s good.  Nothing much.  It’s just that I’m now being addressed as Mr. & Mrs. KC Okonkwo.

How does it feel to be an expectant father?

There is no man that’s expecting a baby that won’t be happy.  So, I’m happy right now. I can’t wait to see the baby.

So, what are the preparations on ground to welcome the baby?

God has made everything available already and we’re waiting for the baby.  The baby is welcome. Everything is in place for him.

Do you know the sex of the baby yet?

It’s a gift from God and so, whatever it is, we’ll take.

We also learnt that you’ve moved to another crib in Omole Phase 2?

Yes, everything there is good; a beautiful place, lovely apartment.

You and Presh?

Yes, Presh is in one wing while my wife and I are in the other wing.

What’s the Road to Independence Tour all about?

It’s a tour that is being arranged by an entertainment outfit, a lady called Ella Bliss.  We have over 20 shows to do in Europe in about nine countries and we’ll be out from Friday and will be back after two months.  It’s going to be a long tour.

Can you throw more light on your itinerary in Europe?

As I said earlier, we’re jetting out on Friday, August 20, 2010.  Our first show is on August 22 in Liverno, Italy.  London takes its turn on August 29.  We would later be in Valencia (Spain) on September 4.  We also have a show in Madrid, Napoli (Italy), Malaga and Parma, all in Spain.  By October, we would be in Berlin, Germany and Holland.

How did you get in contact with them?

They’ve been on our heels, trying to reach us and finally, they got hooked to us.  They’re like, ‘Your songs are making so much waves over there, we want you guys to come and entertain us over there.’  They’re taking us round the whole Europe.  The independence show will finally be in Germany where we’ll be doing a show with the ambassador and so many other prominent Nigerians there. It’s going to be a big tour.

We are sure this is not your first international tour?

KC-Presh-WeddingNo, we had a show three weeks ago at Modena, Italy and that was when they saw our performance and were thrilled.  So, because of our wonderful performance, they decided to use us for this year’s independence tour.  We’ve been doing shows in Europe and London, but this one is a special package for about nine countries, so it is massive.

So, what should they expect from you?

They should expect all our songs and nothing less.  We have to step up to make sure they have maximum fun.

How much is involved in this tour?

KC Presh don’t like mentioning figures but we’re big masquerades.  So, before you pull a big masquerade out of his house, you must be talking about good money. So, we’re excited and we are going because we’re being paid good money.

You also do big shows here in Nigeria?

Yes, we have a show to do for Nigeria Breweries, another one in South-South and the Sio Nkpo Live Show.

How does all these impact make you feel?

It makes me feel great, fulfilled and excited because considering where we’re coming from, Ajegunle.  I never expected we’ll be here today.  But I always believe that with hard work, we’ll be somewhere some day.

We learnt your new album and video is out, are there more new things?

Yes, as soon as we come back from the tour, we’ll be travelling to South Africa to do three videos so as to step up the game again.  We’re currently doing a song called Bag of Money.  We equally recorded a song two days ago with Flavour and another song called Congo.

Is your deal with DKL still intact?

No, the contract expired last month because it’s a year contract.  Right now, we’re back to Blings Record.
