Popular Yoruba actress, Laide Bakare’s ex-hubby, Olumide Okunfulure has denied any involvement in the fraud case trailing the actress’ new husband, Alhaji Mutairu Orilowo.
Speaking exclusively with ENCOMIUM Weekly on Sunday, April 27, 2014, from his base in the US, the Ile-Oluji, Ondo born businessman said he had read many reports linking him with the fraud case, describing them as lies, “because I have no hand in it, and it’s none of my business.”
He stated, “It has come to my notice that some section of the media in Nigeria involved me in the theft scandal trailing one Mr. Orilowo (his ex-wife’s new hubby), which has led to EFCC declaring him wanted! Some media, particularly journals and blogs even quoted me in the said story, as if they spoke with me. I want to state here that I didn’t speak with anybody on any issue relating to my ex-wife or her new hubby. It’s none of my business.
“I don’t want Laide’s issue in my life again”. “It’s a bygone matter, and I want to thank God for exposing her wickedness. My prayer was answered, and I am grateful to God, because since she left my life, I have begun to appreciate the essence of living.”
Asked if he has found love again, he said, “I will definitely tell you when it’s time. But trust me, she’s not going to be a celebrity. Not only that I will tell you about my new love, I will also tell you about the new edifice I have in Nigeria, an indication that God is on my side. However, I

will personally tell you when it’s time. So, let’s keep it for now.”
The actress parted ways with her husband, Olumide Okunfulure in a dramatic way last year. She publicly and officially announced to the world that she has found a new love (Tunde Orilowo), whom she said she would spend the rest of her life with. A lot of people within and outside the industry condemned the decision, knowing full well that she was married to an America based Nigerian, Olumide Okunfulure, with a daughter, but Laide went ahead without minding whose ox was gored.
Meanwhile, Laide Bakare’s new husband, who alleged that he’s being blackmailed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), is still wanted by the anti-graft agency.
Findings also revealed that the commission has obtained a forfeiture order on all his known properties, and has paraded him as wanted on its website, www.efccnigeria.org. Yet, the whereabouts of the wanted man is not known at the time of filing this report on Sunday, April 27, 2014.
On its website visited by ENCOMIUM Weekly, Alhaji Mutairu Orilowo is categorised on Wanted List. It reads, “The public is hereby notified that Alhaji Muttairu Babatunde Babaegbe Orilowo, whose photograph appears above is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in connection with a case of criminal conspiracy, Obtaining money under false pretences and stealing.
“Dark complexioned Orilowo is 47, 5.7 feet tall and has brown eyes. He speaks English and Yoruba fluently. His last known address is No. 1, Otunba Adeniyi Street, Papa-Epe, Lagos.
