‘I feel excited, this is my first major award’ – Henry Knight

Henry Buchi Ike, otherwise known as Henry Knight, has remained unstoppable since he started his music career in 2004, with a group called The Knight. He bagged an award at the just concluded Scream Awards. He has also released a new single, Damilohun.

ENCOMIUM Weekly had an interview with the Imo born talented artiste recently, where he spoke on other issues.

What have you been up to?

I have been promoting, Desire, and Live My Life. These two singles I dropped a few months back have been rocking the airwaves. The video to Desire has been released and rocking TV stations nationwide.

What are you working on at the moment?

I am working on releasing more singles; hopefully they should lead to a new album or EP in 2017.

Congratulations, you won an award at the just concluded Scream Awards. How do you feel about it?

I feel excited because it’s my first major award, and I want to thank all the people who voted your boy once again.

Did you envisage that you will get an award?

Not really, but I was really hoping I will win. I’m happy it came to pass.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

In five years, I see myself making more good music for my fans. Doing Nigeria and Africa proud in the international stage. That’s a priority.

What has been the response of the public since you joined the music industry?

Its been very nice. It all started when Baba Dee featured me in one of his singles, Yeah (Gum Body). I have been working on making sure that I stay with the people. I believe the sky is the beginning. There is still so much work to be done and I will make sure that the public appreciates the music that I am giving .

How have you been getting shows and concerts since you started rising to stardom?

Sure, not as much as I wished, but as much as befits my current stage and I thank God. There is a stage to everything. At this stage, I can only ask for more but there is definitely an improvement on what it used to be.

You are signed to Matt Westside Records. How will you describe the experience?

Smooth and cordial, I want to thank my CEO for making all these possible so far. God bless you, bro. We have been able to get along with each other the right way and I look forward to making things better between us.

Most artistes rise to fame through scandals. Are you not planning to follow that path?

I hope not, because everything is going on very fine right now. It’s when you become desperate that you begin to look to all means. But for me, it’s a step at a time and I am moving gradually.

How did you spend your Christmas holiday?

Performing here and there; I tried as much as I could to hang out with friends as well.

What word do you have for your fans?

Thank you all for your support. I wish you the very best in the New Year.
