‘I founded  Bellevista after losing my job’ – IGWE IFEANYI

IGWE Ifeanyi is the brain behind Bellevistaworld.com, an online/offline retail brand. Founded shortly after he was fired by his employers, the Nnamdi Azikiwe University-trained Electrical Engineer is currently building the company that’s competing favourably with rival brands.

He shared his business concept/plan with ENCOMIUM Weekly at a recent formal launch of Bellevistaworld.com in Lagos.

You are the Managing Director of Bellevista?

Yes, I’m the Managing Director/CEO of Bellevistaworld.com.  My name is Igwe Ifeanyi, a graduate of Electrical Engineering from Nnamdi Azikiwe University.  I had my Masters degree in the same discipline.  I’m from Orunmba North Local Government of Anambra State.

Can you tell us more about Bellevista?

After my Youth Service, I started working with Allied Technology as their System Administrator. But the pay wasn’t okay.  So, I resigned and started working in a friend’s shop where we sold phones. I was later sent away and I found myself on the streets where I started selling phones.  That was what gave birth to Bellevista.

We have three arms which include communications, property development and apparels which will be established later.

What is unique about Bellevista?

We’ve got style and a very good customer-friendly environ-ment. Our prices are quite competitive and being an IT expert, I have a deep knowledge of phones and accessories long before Jumia or Konga came on board.

igwe ifeanyiWhat are the challenges so far?

The challenges are quite enormous, with competitors like Jumia who have foreign investors and money to throw around, especially with adverts that are thrown at people’s faces.  But we are leveraging on our customer satisfaction pedigree and low prices to retain our customers.   And of course, promos which will come with time.

What are your services like?

We have online presence and also we do home delivery, which is more from our outlet located at Saka Tinubu Street, Victoria Island, Lagos. We deal in home accessories, laptops and phones.  We’re called Bellevista World.Com because we deal in other products other than phones.  Our prices are extremely low.  If you check the No. 1 price comparison site in Nigeria (www.pricecomparism.com), you will realise that Bellevista comes first in terms of affordability of our products.

What should Nigerians expect from you in the next year five years of operation?

We hope to have employed more staff and of course expand by opening other branches. We will open franchise outlets because it’s not really easy to monitor all the shops.
