The Lagos State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Architect Wasiu Abiola Anifowose has claimed not have seen Dr. Muiz Banire , a three times commissioner in the state and presently National Legal Adviser of All Progressives Congress (APC), in his entire life.
The 65 year old retired civil servant from Lagos civil service claimed he had only heard Muiz Banire’s name.
The commissioner made this statement in an interview with Sunday Punch of November 26, 2017, while reacting to the question on the demolition notice on the property of Muiz Banire mother on 24A, Remi Fani Kayode Street, GRA, Ikeja , Lagos.
According to the commissioner, “Nobody knew the house in question belonged to Mama Muiz Banire. I don’t even know his mother. I’ve never seen Muiz Banire in my life. I’ve only heard his name. So, why should I single out his mother’s house?”
When asked whether he was prompted by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, he said, “What! You need to tender an apology for saying that. My governor is not that type of person.”
He went further, “Let me tell you, there are more important dignitaries who live on that street; they didn’t raise an eyebrow. In addition, people have been responding to the notices served. Why didn’t he (Banire) respond? Is it because he is a SAN? Is it because he was once in government? Or, is it that he’s above the law? Mark you, the law is no respecter of anybody. The law is meant for human beings to be obeyed. Ambode doesn’t have the time for noise making…”
The commissioner also denied any role in the takeover of Hon. Funmi Tejuoso’s GRA, Ikeja residence.
He said the property was taken over by Lagos House of Assembly.
