What have you been up to?

I have been up to a lot of things.  I thank God for a successful album entitled The Dream.  I am not trying to boast about it but it’s one of the best albums in 2014.  This is 2015, and we have been doing a lot.  We just got back from the States.  I have worked a lot to put together my next album.  I dropped a single few days ago called Abeg.  The video will drop soon.

Recently, you were on tour of the United States, can you please, tell us about it?

It was successful.  I just wanted to appreciate my fans over there.  It was fun.  Apart from the tour, I went for business too.  I shot some videos too, like my new single, Abeg una.  It’s been more of work than enjoyment.

What inspired your new single, Abeg?

Wahala dey o.  Abeg is a message that nobody is too big to beg.  It’s for people who are begging for love.

Tell us about your kind of music.

My kind of music is making good music. I can dive into any genre.  So, if you see me doing Fuji, don’t be surprised, I love good music.  I thank God for the inspiration.

Would you like to tell us some of the international artistes you are working with?

No, I won’t want to spill it now.  I am shielding it, you should wait for it to drop.

What kind of music should we expect?

A nice and good music.  I call it an African reggae style.

Why African reggae style?

You are one of the artistes who wear tattoos, tell us why you love tattoos?

When I wear a tattoo it is for a reason.  The first one I had is a music sign, because I love music.  I have an angel on the other arm, so the angel will be watching over me.

How would you describe your relationship with Davido?  A lot of people say you look alike?

I don’t even know if it’s a gift or curse but I think it’s a gift because he is doing good and big.  I just need to confirm from my Baba boya won lo gba away ni (laughs).

Are you looking forward to a collaboration with him?

We don do am, na make e just drop.  You wait for it, o bad gan.  It’s banging, I won’t lie.

It was rumoured that you had an issue with Davido, how true is this?

Where that one come out from?

It was on the internet?

I no see am, na awon blog ti o n wa traffic ni jare.  There is nothing like that, he is like my brother.  There is no problem with Davido at all.

Talking about your song, Perfect Gentleman, what inspired it?

Like I said, it’s all about good music. It was the last song on my album but people love it.  For those who don’t know, I be lover boy.

You were one of MTN ambassadors but you were dropped, what happened?

That’s how they want it, time would tell who dropped who. Just wait for it.

Would you say you have benefitted as an MTN ambassador?

It was a good thing.  Good things happened when I was with them, so I appreciate that they signed me and now that we’ve gone our separate ways, it’s not as if there is any problem, but that’s how they wanted it.

How long was the deal with MTN?

It was a year.

How do you cope with female fans?

I love and respect them.  I don’t feel superior.  I try to be myself.  I treat them like my sisters and friends.

The movie industry is very competitive, how do you intend to step up your game?

It’s by dropping good music, keep working and keep begging God to help because it’s not by my power.  I do my best and leave the rest for God.  My best should be like 101 per cent.

Aside competition in the industry, we also have the issue of piracy, how do you think piracy can be killed?

That is a long thing, but it will definitely stop.  When the necessary things that make a country better are put in place, all other things will fall into place.  All thanks to God for one Nigeria, one Africa.
