‘I was there when Seun Egbeegbe stole 9 iPhone handsets’ – Insider recounts

An insider who claimed he was right there at Computer Village  (Ikeja, Lagos) on Tuesday, November 22, when the controversial film maker and socialite Seun Egbeegbe allegedly stole 9 iPhone handsets has narrated the disgraceful episode to encomium.ng.

Speaking with us this afternoon (Thursday, November 24), the high ranking official in Africa’s biggest market for computers and phones told encomium.ng that only 8 of the 9 iPhone handsets worth N2.8 million were found with the controversial marketer, as one of his accomplices made away with one from Kaalcech Innovation and Consultancy on 9, Medical Road.

The witness said, ” Egbeegbe walked into the mall requesting 9 iPhone handsets. Another young man accompanied him. The phones  were brought to him by a sales boy,  and he taking  them to his car parked many metres away without prior notice.  He must have  used a charm or talisman as he walked away confidently.

” When the sales boy ran after him to demand for the money,  Egbeegbe claimed he had paid. That he should be left alone. He entered his vehicle and was zooming off when the sales boy shouted, held on to him, while both exchanged blows.

” It was at this point that more people gathered to ask what was wrong.  When both narrated their sides of the story, the mob battered Egbeegbe.

” But he was saved by the market’s task force members who took him to the office of the grand commander of Computer Village where he was questioned.

” There, Egbeegbe admitted stealing the phones, and eight of the handsets were with him, and one with his accomplice who escaped.

” Egbeegbe was later taken to Area F Police Command in GRA Ikeja on Oba Akinjobi.

” At Area F, some members of his family were invited, and they paid for the iPhone his accomplice made away with. He also signed an undertaking never to go near Computer Village again. He told the police that he was going to withdraw money from the Access Bank near the mall to pay for the phones when he was misunderstood.

” While he was in detention, he began boasting with his claim that he was chilling at home. That angered everyone since he was trying to give the impression that he was framed.

“That’s why he found himself in court today.”
