“I will set up my own church” – controversial Daddy Freeze exclusive

Ifedayo Olarinde, popularly known as Daddy Freeze, has  been courting controversies like a second skin through his social media pages. He is often against pastors, tithes and offerings – and he has wowed not to relent until he spreads the “truth” about the gospel of Christ.

encomium.ng took him up on why he can’t stop tackling religious bodies…

You have been going against the payment of tithes and offerings for a while now. Can we know why?

I am a messager of the most high God. The first thing you have to do is to teach the truth. Why will I believe in it when Paul said he would rather die than collect money to preach the gospel. He said he would rather die than charge money to preach.

All of a sudden, the gospel became a private jet gospel. I am a teacher of the word of Christ, that is why I can’t keep the truth to myself. What they are teaching is not the Word of Christ.

Never is there a verse in the Bible where Christ was paying tithes or collecting tithes. Christ spoke to the Pharisees and teachers of the law. He said, woe unto you teachers of the law, for you tithe from your garden but you forget the weightier matters. Christ said they should tithe because they are teachers of the law but we are not under the law, the scribes and Pharisees are not our teachers, they teach the law.

I have to admonish the lies that they are feeding this generation.

Switzerland has less than 20 churches in the country and they are one of the world’s best stable economies. Nigeria has 23,000 registered churches and we wallow in poverty.

I was talking to a friend of mine who is a pilot, he was on his way to Morocco for simulation training. Is Morocco not in Africa, Nigeria does not have a simulator training facility for pilots. Ethiopia has a stimulator training facility. Do you know that Nigeria gave Ethiopia its first plane? What have we done? You are telling me that I am attacking tithes and wealth generation of  a country. Ask Kenya what they have done to stabilize their economy, don’t tell me about tithe and offering that has failed to work.

Malachi 3:12 says, And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the lord of hosts.

Is there anything delightsome here? It also says other nations would call you blessed, which nation calls us blessed . These are some of the benefits we are suppose to get from paying tithes, it shows we are not doing the thing. By the way, tithe is not supposed to be paid to the church. Deuteronomy 14:22 says you are supposed to eat your tithe  in the place the lord has chosen. Read your bible, it is there, very clear. They just don’t preach it, they don’t like it.

Malachi was referring to the priest and not to us, it is for the priest who are stealing the money that is supposed to be in the temple. If you read Deuteronomy 14:27-28, the bible instructs us that in the third year, we should bring the tithe to our gate.

The Levite’s were instructed to give 10% to the priests, those priests were not bringing the 10% to the store house, hence the curse placed on them. But it has all been twisted into our problem, it is the same priests that have been robbing God, not you and me.

Do you belong to any church?

Not anymore. But once in a while I worship at the Catholic church. I cannot worship among the den of thieves, especially Pentecostal pastors who are not speaking the true gospel of Christ.

Based on your conviction, do you see yourself setting up a church soon?

Yes, but I do not intend to set up a physical church. Before Jesus Christ died, he said, I would pull down this temple and rebuild it in three days. And everyone asked, it took us 43 years to build this temple, how do you intend pulling it down. He was not referring to the physical temple. The church of Christ is not the physical place anymore, it is a spiritual temple. The church of God is in you and the brethren worshipping will not come to a physical building anymore (Act 7:42-48).

I am here to demystify that building called the church of God, I am here to empower you as a Temple of Christ. It would be cheaper, less manipulative. You are the church and carrying the truth everywhere. Everything I say I can back up with bible verses.

So we should expect more truth from your social media page?

Not only on the social media, but anywhere I find myself and I have the opportunity.

But the supposed truth is making you controversial?

The truth made Jesus controversial. He was nailed to the cross like a common criminal. It made the 12 disciples controversial, they were executed. Only Paul died in exile. The truth would make you controversial.

Apart from talking about the truth from the religious aspect, why can’t you focus on other areas and leave religion alone?

Let me ask you a question, what is an architect’s job in a building? Will an architect lay the blocks or fix the bathroom? I am a biblical scholar, a preacher of the word of God, a follower of Christ. Everything else is somebody else’s business. Let a political scholar analyze politics, let an lslamic scholar analyze Islam. I do not have the grace I have about biblical things on all subjects, though I make comments about them. But they are side attractions, they are not my main essence.

How did you come about your calling, how were you called?

I have been preaching on the radio for 10 years and I have been preaching the same doctrine. I read more and more, I asked more questions as well just to deepen my knowledge.

We are paying tithes and our pastors are rich. Instead of having wealthy Christians, we are having wealthy pastors, pastors who neglect the poor.

I went on holiday to my mother’s country Romania, I haven’t been there for over 20 years. They have 20 million people and there is constant electricity, beautiful roads, no Police check points, they don’t have armed robbers, you can drive at any time of the night or day. In Europe, they have the best internet. Nigeria has 90 million Christians, Redeemed has more people than Romania.

Yet Romania gives its citizen free education. Which church gives its citizens free education? None. So it is not adding up. Jesus Christ said if you want to give me money, give it to someone around you, not to a church, not to Pastors.

We can’t blame the church in totality for all these ills?

Why can’t we blame the church, when Goodluck was campaigning, didn’t he take it to the church? You are blaming the politicians who work with the pastors.

Who was the first person to go and see the President when he was recovering in London, was it not a pastor? They are one and the same. I don’t know politics but I know the bible, I would tackle the one I know. Which Nigerian pastor has stood up to point his hands in the eyes of politician, they are all best friends. I don’t know politicians, I know and understand the bible. I understand when you are using it to tell lies.
