‘I won’t give up my presidential ambition’ – Fayose insists

Ekiti governor, Ayodele Fayose has refused to jettison his bid to vie for  presidential ticket under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) despite the fact that the party has zoned the ticket to the north.
Speaking with encomium.ng  today, Wednesday, October 11, 2017, via his Special Assistant on Publicity and New Media, Mr Lere Olayinka, the governor argued that instead if criticising him, the northern caucus which also echoed the zoning should rather encourage party members from the zone who are also interested in the ticket to declare their intention openly and work diligently to achieve it. He stressed further that the ticket, despite being zoned to the north, shouldn’t be issued on platter of gold and that also shouldn’t stop him from contesting for it.
“The northern caucus should rather encourage PDP members from the zone who are interested in the presidency to declare openly and work assiduously to get the ticket. That the ticket was zoned to the north doesn’t prevent others from the south from contesting and it’s not a licence for anyone to stay in his house and expects the ticket to be brought to him.”
Meanwhile, national publicity secretary of the party, Prince Adedayo Adeyeye has earlier warned the controversial politician to drop the ambition as it’s not in tandem with the decision of the party’s supreme organ (National Convention) which had earlier concluded  that the chairmanship of the party be zoned to the south while presidential ticket goes to the north.
