No Good Deed, starring British film-maker and actor, Idris Elba, has snatched the top spot in the US box office from Guardians of the Galaxy with $24.5 million in its opening weekend.
In the flick, Idris plays Colin Evans – a prison escapee who shoots a guard and driver in his escape attempt. With its $13.2 million budget, the movie – which isn’t a hit with the critics – is considered a success following its opening weekend exploits.
Elsewhere at the box-office, Dolphin Tale 2 took number two, while Guardians of the Galaxy slipped to third. The Marvel movie has taken around $600 million worldwide and is the biggest film of the year in North America, so far.
