Ifeanyi Ubah released after 44-day detention

Forty-five year old oil mogul, Ifeanyi Ubah, finally regained freedom after spending 44 nights in detention following accusations of theft, economic sabotage and threat to national security by the Department of State Security.

The owner of Capital Oil and Gas was detained on Friday, May 5, and released on Monday, June 19, 2017, without being charged for the offences listed by DSS.
At his arrest, he was accused of selling N11.144 billion products of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation kept in his custody. And after several appeals by the NNPC, he refused to return the 84,891,730 litres of the product he allegedly sold.
The Otolo, Anambra state born tycoon had claimed he was being owed N16 billion by NNPC.
After several court battles, conflicting orders were issued with the DSS insisting that they had the nods of the courts to detain him as investigations proceeded with possible arraignment when ready.
Now, the bulky businessman is out after 44 days in detention…
