‘I’m battle ready for AREGBESOLA in August 9 election’ – OMISORE

+ MY FEUD WITH SENATOR ADELEKE IS NORMAL

Following Senator Iyiola Omisore’s victory at Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial primary election held in Osogbo, Osun State capital on Saturday, April 5, 2014, the controversial politician has vowed to give the incumbent governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the fight of his life in the Saturday, August 9, 2014 governorship election.

He added that the party is fully prepared to stage a surprise come back to Abere, the seat of power of the Home of the Living Spring.

Speaking with ENCOMIUM Weekly on Saturday, April 12, 2014, via his Publicity Director, Mr. Diran Odeyemi, the engineer turned politician stated that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state will be dislodged in the forthcoming guber election on account of its poor performance since it took over from PDP in November 2010.

“We’re not afraid of Aregbesola or APC in any way. He will be defeated hands down in the next election. APC will be sent packing, and will never again smell the number one seat in the state. PDP and its members will ever remain resolute and focused. The truth is that Aregbesola never came to power through election but the judiciary. This will be the first time he will truly be testing his popularity. So, he must surely be ready for a greater task.

“Everybody is aware of the fact that Aregbesola has destroyed Osun through his obnoxious education policy, unnecessary loan, destruction of property and all that. Aregbesola has also created an avenue to take our money to Lagos State.

“Almost all the people working with him are from Lagos. Now, the people of Osun state are saying they want their money to remain in their state. All these facts and much more are no longer hidden. That’s why they have all vowed not to allow him destroy Osun the more.

“But for us, we’re putting our campaign on issues, not violence that Aregbesola is known for. Voters are more learned and sophisticated than the violent option that he is used to. We are not ready for violence but we will guide our voters jealously. There is no way APC can rig us out in the Saturday, August 9, 2014 gubernatorial election.”

Asked to clear the air on the ongoing battle between Omisore and Senator Isiaka Adeleke, which, according to political pundits in the state, is capable of jeopardizing PDP’s chances of emerging victorious in the forthcoming polls, he reacted, “That’s not true. What happens is that in politics, there is bound to be crisis and misunderstanding but at the end of it all, we will still come back together as one big family. Whatever crisis people may be talking about was before the primary election, which is normal. What we’re working at now is reconciliation, which is already in progress. And let me add this, nobody has ever left PDP and didn’t come back.

“Senator Omisore is a person who is not proud in victory. Instead, he recognizes other contenders as able and capable. Whatever might be the anger between himself and Senator Isiaka Adeleke before the primary election is normal, and the party is capable of managing it, which is what we’re doing at the moment.

“Senators Omisore and Adeleke are not fighting the way it’s being speculated. All will result in the party’s victory come August 9, 2014.”
