‘I’m still interested in marriage’- Yvonne Jegede

Actress Yvonne Jegede took to her social media on Saturday, June 25, 2016, to reveal how a pageant organizer refused to pay her and other judges after she refused to crown his choice of winner.

The Nollywood actress was in Delta state as a chief judge of a pageant over the weekend but the actress was stranded after she refused to cheat other contestants by picking the organizer’s own candidate. She and other judges stood their grounds by crowning who they felt deserved it.

This angered the organizer identified as IK and he refused to pay her hotel bills or buy her ticket back to Lagos…

Her words,

“I was called to be the chief judge of the Miss Delta Constituency Beauty pageant held on June 24, 2016, in Delta state. While I sat at the table with my fellow judges addressing the contestants, making sure we picked who deserved to be queen, the organizer came to our table to tell us who should win, who his candidate was. The judges were visibly angry including myself wondering why the waste of our time if you already knew who the winner was.”

She further said, “To be honest, we stood our ground and picked the winner because the obvious was stated. Even the audience wanted who the judges picked. Now, the organizer, IK was mad at me and refused to buy my return ticket to Lagos and also refused to pay my hotel bills the next morning. Just an experience I thought I’d share. It is well with this country.”

ENCOMIUM Weekly on Thursday, June 30, 2016, at about 9:50am called the Nollywood actress to have a interview with her, and when she was asked about what happened at the Delta Constituency Beauty pageant, she said,

“I am not going to have an interview on that. I have written all I want to write about it, I am not going to say anything more.”

She was further asked to describe the attitude of the organizer of the beauty pageant. She said, “I am not having a conversation on that topic at all.”

The actress attended to other questions, leaving out the questions about the pageant…

Generally, how has this year been for you?

2016 has been good. It has been great. I have to keep thanking God because I cannot complain.

Will you say you have achieved your dreams for 2016?

My dreams are very big, but I have achieved a bit of things that I wanted to get. But for my dreams, not at all.

How will you describe the movie industry presently?

We are moving ahead. We are getting better. Things are improving and we hope for a better industry.

There was a time you were slimming down, will you say you have achieved your desired size and shape?

Yes, I have. As a matter of fact, I am a size 8 now. So, that is a yes! I have gotten to where I want to be but whatever I am doing now, I am just making sure my tummy doesn’t come out. I don’t diet anymore. All I do is take tea.

Are you in a relationship at the moment?

At the moment, I am single.

Your fans are expecting wedding bells soon, what do you have to say about it?

I am single now. How can they be expecting wedding bells. But I will say it is a prayer and I accept it as a prayer.

What are you working on presently?

I got so many things here and there, not anything in particular. But I am working on something I will rather not talk about it until it is out. It is better to be a surprise to people. Now, I am working on another project and I am doing something outside Nollywood. However, we are just pushing.

What can you say about the state of domestic violence lately in marriages?

It is a personal decision. It is just the same way salivation is a personal decision. It is only you that can make up for them because you and I have to come together and agree that we are going to tolerate each other. However, we have to pass through this and come out strong. So, I think it is a personal thing.

Some people, even before they got married already have it in mind that if my husband cheats, I will break up with him or divorce, whereas you have not even gotten married and you are already saying something like that. So, a lot of times people have it in mind that if I catch my wife cheating, I will do this and that so why don’t you allow it happen before you plan. Why not get there first then whatever you want to do, you do. If you don’t want to stay in the marriage, nobody can force you.

So, will you say you still have a positive mindset about marriage?

Yes, I do. There are people who are celebrating 25 years in marriage. They are not different from people that are divorced. Of course, I have a positive mindset about marriage.

What word do you have for your fans and everyone looking up to you?

I will say they should focus and keep praying. There is nothing in this world that is impossible. So, if you are focused and you put your mind to it, you will surely get what you are looking for.
