‘I’m thoroughly rejuvenated and joyous as a father,’ says Emeka Ossai

VERSATILE actor and producer, Emeka Ossai is still basking in the euphoria of the bundles of joy God blessed him and his ebony skinned wife, Jumai with on Friday, September 21, 2012, in far away Atlanta, United States of America.

The couple and their set of twins (a boy and a girl) are still in Atlanta.  They will be back in Nigeria in a couple of months.  ENCOMIUM Weekly had an interview with Ossai on the joys of fatherhood, lessons he learnt during their period of waiting and much more…

Congratulations Sir, how does it feel to be a father?

Thank you very much.  I feel very great.  It’s been a rough and tough journey, very testing.

Did you know she was expecting twins?

Yes, I knew.  We took advantage of the technology available to monitor the process, so that gave us pre-knowledge.

What’s the best thing about being a father?

Absolutely, everything about it is good. I am thoroughly rejuvenated.

What was your reaction when the babies were placed in your arms?

I was elated, though I am still apprehensive.  They looked too beautiful, I am so grateful to God.  It was also very emotional. I am not over it yet.

Were you in the labour room with her?

Yes, I was.

How would you describe the experience?£

I was there covering the event. As a man of pictures, I took pictures and at the same time I was giving her the needed moral support.  It felt very good, it was a life changing experience for me.  My wife is brand new to me now.

What are the lessons you learnt during the waiting period?

Perseverance and total trust in the will of God even while having your preferences, God’s time is always the most appropriate.

What are the names of the babies?

Chukwuka Jude and Chukwuamaka Judith.

How many more should we be expecting?

(Laughs) I am okay with this giant stride for now. I will await God’s direction and will.

Describe your wife after seeing her carry your children for nine months?

Like I said, she’s brand new to me.  I love her even more and I am not sparing anything to show it to her.

Any other blessings you want from God?

For now, I am concentrating on thanking and praising Him.  He has proven Himself to me once again, and all I want to do now is keep thanking Him.  But I know He that has done this wonderful thing for me will be faithful enough to complete all the other things.

Why did you choose to have the children in a hospital so far away from home?

After the long and tortuous journey to fatherhood, I didn’t want to spend any less to get the best delivery options I could afford and I thank God for His enablement.
