Electricity consumers in Nigeria, especially in some parts of Lagos are happy with the performance of Power Distribution Companies Discos.
Admitting they now enjoy better services, they encouraged them to do more…
‘WE PRAY THAT CONTINUES FOR LONG’ – Oladele Idris, Agege
I think there is little supply at the moment. We pray that continues for long. The situation now is different from what we’re experiencing before the general elections. Now, we’re enjoying value for our money a little unlike when we’re just paying high tariff without any light.
If this is what Buhari can do successfully, I believe Nigeria will move at least an inch forward both socially and economically.
‘LIGHT HAS BEEN MORE STABLE NOW’, Tunde Oluwaloba, Ojodu-Berger, Lagos
I must confess that the light has been more stable now, compared to the beginning of the year. It’s very good. Every time I return from the office I meet light at home, and it sometimes stays till the following morning. We have not had to use the generator that much for some time now. 10 litres that we used to consume in about three days now lasts for more than a week. I have always believed that if the electricity problem is fixed, life will be better.
Families can save money spent on fueling and servicing the generator on more pressing concerns. Even businesses benefit from it. It is encouraging, but it can be better. The change we fought for has started.
‘IT HAS IMPROVED’ – Tosin Kadiri, Ogudu, Lagos
Yes, it has improved a bit. Like four, five hours difference in a day. The sad thing is that some people are saying it is this Buhari administration that is just over a month old that is responsible for it. But that is not true.
What we are seeing is a result of what Jonathan did before he left office. Buhari’s government is still behaving like it just woke up from a year-long sleep to find itself in power. No direction. No vision. Nothing! It means it is possible for us to have constant power supply.
‘THEY HAVE REALLY TRIED’ – Boniface Chinyerugo, Ikotun, Lagos
We are generally pleased with the DISCOs. They have really tried. We have power regularly in my area, though it is not 24 hours per day. Our hope is they continue with this historic performance.
‘THE SUPPLY HAS BEEN FAIRLY OKAY THIS TIME AROUND’ – Israel Ime, Oko Oba
We have been experiencing fairly stable electricity for the past few months. And that has been helping some of our businesses, especially those that are directly connected to electricity. The supply has been fairly okay this time around.
I give kudos to Buhari on that for now. He should just improve on that. I believe we also can have light without seizing even for an hour, if the sector is handled by serious minded people.
‘POWER HAS DRAMATICALLY IMPROVED’ – Ijeoma Goodluck, Orile, Lagos
In Orile, Lagos, power has dramatically improved. And we are so, so happy. We hope it is not just a flash in the pan. The DISCOs must be compelled to justify the operational right the Federal Government grated.
