Inside Deji Tinubu’s funeral

The remains of Boonyamin Ayodeji Tinubu, the Special Adviser to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, who died on Thursday, January 25, 2018, was laid to rest today, Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at Vaults and Gardens, Ikoyi, amid tears from family members, friends, colleagues and sympathizers.
Prior to his burial, a lying in state and funeral service was held in his honour at Redeemed Christian Church of God, City of David parish, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Speakers at the funeral service which include Senator Ibikunle Amosun, the governor of Ogun State sang odes. They were unanimous in their speeches that Mr Deji Tinubu was not only a football lover but also a prolific football analyst .
Governor Amosun said his family should thank God that his 53 years on earth was an eventful one.
The head pastor of the church, Pastor Idowu Iluyomade has this to say to his family: ” I want you to take solace in the fact that everyone of us will die or be raptured. Today, we celebrate Deji because we know he ‘s in a better place. Nobody took his life, he died at the appointed time.”
Other dignitaries present at the funeral service are Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and his wife , Bolanle, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo, the vice president’s wife, Mr Peter Obi, members of Executive Council of Lagos State and many others.
Mr Deji Tinubu, was born on July 31, 1964, to late Alhaji Kafaru Oluwole Tinubu, a lawyer and former commissioner of police in Lagos state and Alhaja Bintu Fatimah Tinubu, the incumbent Iyalode of Lagos.
He was a certified engineer but well known as sports guru .
Before his appointment into Lagos state cabinet in 2015, he was the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Sportvision and Sportplus TV.
He was survived by his mother , Alhaja Bintu Fatimah Tinubu, his wife, Mrs Yemisi Tinubu and two children.
