The Milan (Italy) wedding between star actress Genevieve Nnaji, 37, and her basketball agent beau, Ugochukwu Udezue, scheduled for the last days of August, was actually cancelled at the last minute, insiders told Encomium Weekly.
The wedding was indeed planned by the adored thespian and her Denver, Colorado (United States of America) based lover, with many guests already at the destination ceremony when suddenly it was called off by the groom (Ugochukwu Udezue) to the embarrassment of all.
Friends who know the popular Nollywood celebrity told Encomium Weekly that the mother of a grown up daughter whom she had as a 17 year old secondary school student was in fact engaged and planned the fabulous destination nuptials for Milan where a quiet ceremony would have turned her into Mrs. Genevieve Ugochukwu Udezue.
They, however, failed to state if indeed the lovers are still an item following the life-changing cancellation.
Encomium Weekly gathered that Genevieve’s close friends were already in Milan, and among those listed as guests were Joy Okpe, Oluchi Orlandi, Chinny Onwugbenu and a few others.
The groom’s mother was also said to be on ground in Milan for the hush-hush wedding. But her husband, on whose account the nuptials was cancelled, was nowhere near Italy.
Why the wedding was cancelled when everything was set baffles close watchers. They are bemused at the reasons flying around which claim it was called off because Genevieve’s close family members were excluded on the guest list. And that the secrecy she demanded was uncomfortable, throwing up many suspicions about her motive.
What is more confusing is whether a more cogent reason had anything to do with the cancellation. Was something more dramatic discovered by the couple about their pasts? Was there an introduction and traditional engagement before the planned Milan event?
Many are stupefied about the suddenness of the proposal and engagement, and wedding. As there was no inkling that she was dating the international basketball agent said to have four children from previous relationships, the confusion deepens…
