INSPIRATION SINGER, KSB X-RAYS HER REAL LIFE TALK SHOW

+ Escapes auto crash

Beautiful Music Artist, Kenny Saint Best, popularly known as “KSB” escaped death at Ojota, Lagos, on Wednesday, August 28, 2013, as a trailer ran into her car. However, during an interview with ENCOMIUM Weekly, on Thursday, September 5, 2013, at her residence at Opebi, Lagos, she shed light on how the accident happened, thanking family and friends on the support, love and care they showed her. She also opened up on her talk show and music career.

When and how did it happen?

I can’t really tell what happened on that day. All I heard was just the bang on my car by a trailer. I was wondering what could have gone wrong because we were not speeding. We drove out of Oregun road to link into the major highway while the trailer which was speeding could not control its brake or did not have brake used my car to control its brake. It moved us off the road and I was hoping it would not sway over us because it looked as if it was going to fall. It was really bad but the truck driver got out and was thanking God he did not kill anybody.

How is the state of your car?

My car is in a terrible state. Although the owner of the trailer agreed to repair my car, as we speak they have not fixed it. But they have bought two doors because the doors were shattered. School is resuming and I use the car to drop the children at school. So, I intend to get the car done quickly.

What was the first thing that went through your mind?

I’m not a fearful person, I have never had an accident before or was even involved in any. I was particular about the guy not rolling over us. So, the fact that he did not roll over us and we were able to stabilize made me go “blank”. Then I had to call somebody, so I called my twin brother. I went to check if my driver was ok because the truck hit us from the driver’s side.  Seeing my driver okay actually made me calm and I kept my cool. I later put my celebrity marshall cap on, then I sent a “blackberry broadcast message”.

How were you able to get over the trauma?

Seeing your loved ones around you and knowing that I have kids at home and did not want them to be part of what was going on, I had to pull myself together. Essence kept calling to check up on me because she was the one that took me off the accident scene. Feeling loved by my family and friends gave me strength. I felt loved and that balanced my emotions but it was at night that I felt the shock and I started getting jittery and uncomfortable. I have been going in and out to get medical treatment and I also visited Igbogbi Hospital to see the surgeon because of my arm and to check for broken bones. Emotionally, I am balanced but I still have after shock.

How is your driver doing?

I was surprised my driver did not sustain any injury. He even came to work the following day but I had to take him to the hospital for medical treatment and the doctor administered drugs to him.

What inspired your television show?

The show is called, Light House with KSB. What inspired it, is whatever inspired me to sing. I am a people’ s person and my own kind of gospel is to inspire and to give direction, to give them the strength when they are weak. It is more of entertainment mixed with inspiration. With my personality, I have been known for over 15 years. That is what the TV show is known for. It is not a gospel show but also a Real life talk show. I have to use my on air personality experience to let people know that what you are going through is just temporary and not stuck, to let them know they are not alone and to give them strength where they are weak. The TV show will help people grow emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually. It is also giving other people wings to fly, giving them emotional balance and also a sense of I can do it, sense of setting a goal and achieving it. The television show, Real life talk show is 50 percent talk and 50 percent entertainment.

How has the experience been?

It has been wonderful and I have been getting adverts already. I’m starting the mainstream by October because, people believe in the brand and in the person. If people are buying into the programme, it means that people believe you. So personally, it proved to people that after 15 years, there is something about KSB that people should tap into because everybody knows about the story of KSB and they can identify me with it. It is a believable project because the host is believable.

What are the challenges?

The major challenge was starting because it is a project that has been on course for 10 years. So, it was getting to start. Apparently I did not know that I needed to go through all the experience I had gone through to be able to come and tell people that whatever experience you are going through can’t kill you but it makes you stronger and helps you to attain higher heights. I guess ten years ago, in 2003, when I told my brother, Mr. Kenny Ogungbe about Light House, he was excited and knew I could do it. I thought it was just to put music together but I later felt there should be more than just playing gospel music videos. The other challenge was that I needed to go through all the experience I went through before I could have a successful programme. Right now, I swim in the ocean of experience.

Would you say it has achieved the purpose for setting it up?

It is still not in the mainstream yet but on cable channel. For the few people that have seen them, they keep saying bravo, and even from the U.K, they keep saying we have been waiting for you to start this programme, we thought you did not see what we saw. Even when interviewers meet me they tell me, “You are a viewer’s delight”. I believe I will go further by the time I syndicate it to other television stations. Being the host, I believe it has acheived its purpose because I found out that the experience of my life is what I use to give inspiration, counsel and to entertain.

What should your fans expect from you?

I just released a new video entitled Bragado and a new song. This season, I came out with three things – a new song entitled, No Jonzing featuring Noble, a video for a song I released earlier this year, Bragado featuring LKT and the Talk Show. After doing all these, they were asking me where I got all the money. But the main thing is that, this is the time that showbiz needs serious content. If not, it is just lousy videos of semi-naked girls and guys drinking and smoking. It is the ability of creating new content. So right now, I am creating a new content for the radio, television and for music channels.

What inspired the title of the song No Jonzing?

What inspired the song is the way people depend on stimulants to do whatever they want or have to do, all in the name of Herbs. You see them early in the morning buying sachet of schnapps. That is to tell you that they don’t need the big bottles to get high. So, at the end of the day, it is called Jonzing. When you are high or tipsy, you become a miscreant and not in your right senses. I am using the entertainment medium to say all these things are not right. If you want to get high, get high by the Holy Spirit.
